In this Yin Yoga Retreat we come to the beautiful mountains of Monchique in the Algarve for a contemplation journey. Four days with deep restorative practices, meditation, journaling and sound. Every day we will explore the Yin Yoga practice and its foundations of the 5 element theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This retreat creates a space of rest for you to observe and take ownership on your own journey.
how does a Mountain Retreat look like?
Wake up in the native forest of oak trees, here you can breathe the fresh air of the mountains and drink the pure water of the source. Grab a tea from our living room and seat at your porche, or make your way up the hill... we meet eachother on the top of the property at the domme with beautiful views - this magical "bubble" will host our Yoga sessions. We dive into a morning practice to wake up the body and the breath.... we prepare the body to sit and meditate together.
Everyday we will have a reading together and plant some inspiration for our journaling exercises.
We meet again, down at the dining room, for a gorgeous brunch prepared by our food activist chef Olga. Nourish your body and then enjoy some free time. Your free to take a walk, to seat with your journal, to dip at the pool or to nap and rest.
Late afternoon is time for another group practice. We dive deep with Yin Yoga, where each day will be dedicated to an element according to TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). This powerful practice will take us in deep mediatative journeys, beyond physical recovery, a rebalanced energetic body (more below)
We gather again around beautiful food for dinner. End the night connecting with others, singing, night time meditations or visiting the sauna for a night sweat with the magic of night time views of Monchique.
what is Yin Yoga?
Yin yoga a practice of gentle long holding postures, usually on the ground. This postures lengthen and or stimulate the connective tissue. fascia, muscles, ligaments and joints. On a physical level, it is a practice that promotes mobility, recovery and regeneration.
Yin Yoga was developed on the premisse of stimulating certain group muscles and working on the myofascial meridians, the energetic chanels of the physical body - moving Qi, the vital force to flow and to replenish.
It restores energetic balance and its meditative aspect brings peace and clarity. This deep practice, uses stillness and surrender to cultivate self love, awareness and inner connection.
creating time to go within
Even though we will have a beautiful forest hosting us, delicious food in our plates and likeminded people around us, the invitation is to go within. The practices will guide you on journeys to explore your inner world. Meditation, Yin Yoga, Breathwork, Sound Journey and Journaling walks.
Also we will have time... time to choose whatever flows on that same moment. This is not a full schedule retreat, so you can take time to yourself in any way you like.
We will also invite you to have silent mornings, so we keep the inner stilness a little longer...
the importance of stillness
In a busy world like the one we live in, on a fast paced lifestyle that we are thought to embrace, it is imperative to stop and to question - where is our attention and energy going? When we feel drained, when we feel tired and disconnected, when we feel confused, the answer is to stop and to observe. To let the distractions fall out and to connect to that wisdom that lives inside. In this mountain retreat you can expect less noise and less busyness. We want to create that space of awareness trought our practices and trough our silence - so we can see the essencial and what really matters.
